we visited my mom and dad this past weekend and they had a few surprises for tegan. the first was this fun thing:
she needs more practice in it, but she seemed to enjoy "hanging out". we're going to hang it in the kitchen entrance so she can watch us cook.
then we went outside to check out their new playset. the only thing infant friendly at the moment was the slide and she kind've enjoyed going down it (at a safe speed!).
today i took the girls for a drive around the mountain loop highway (granite falls to darrington through the mountains). we stopped to do a little hiking, a little feeding, some diaper changes, and some stretching. all in all it was a seven hour adventure. we're all a little tuckered out, but glad for the great weather and time outside. here are some pictures from the trip, and i'll upload some of the videos and add them to this post later tonight or tomorrow.
this is Tegan on her first hike - and her first time facing forward in the baby sling. she seemed to love doing both! every time i looked at her she was half smiling at some shadow, tree, or leaf. she was fascinated by the river when we walked across it, and generally pleased with the experience.
there isn't much to this video except - if you notice Tegan is sound asleep. she slept the whole way back to the car, even in the awkward sling.
tegan playing(?) with the ice of big 4 ice caves. we were thrilled with her, and i'm pretty excited that my baby girl isn't scared of a little snow and ice! my apologies for the crappy camera work here, the sun was right in my eyes and i couldn't make out the LCD of the camera.
more of tegan at the ice caves.
at the end of our day Tegan was spent and only up to making some solemn and fun faces at the camera.
Tegan recently hit the 3 month mark, and we've made a few exciting changes. First I pulled out all of her 6 month clothes because those 3 month pants are working hard these days! We also switched her bottle tops for faster flow - thank goodness the feedings can now go from 30 minutes down to 10. She is also sporting an orthodontic binky to prevent funky teeth, courtesy of her pediatric nurse aunt.
Tegan now enjoys sitting on her own in a comfy chair or tucked in the corner of the couch.
She's especially curious about electronics!
And her favorite pastime of late... STANDING! She can't get enough of it. I knew that those amazingly muscular thighs were going to be put to use sooner or later.
We've been seeing exciting changes every day, and I'm going to be better about keeping a camera handy to capture some of these moments - I promise.
last monday i took kryssa and tegan to the seahawk's training facility in renton to watch their first 'open to the public' practice since moving to the west side. it was a beautiful day and tegan did really well. the hawks looked great and i'm excited for a great season.
Tegan napping, Kryssa watching the practice
The new head coach Jim Mora was all over the field watching drills, talking to coaches and players, and, well, coaching.
Matt Hasselbeck looked good with this pass, and...
our new wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh reeled it in for a "score". i'm hoping to see a lot of these this season!
Huge gap and push by the O-line, and yeah i thought he had the ball too.
